VEGETARIAN HEAVEN!
Year 2alpha have been studying Animal rights in
English this bimester and have been finding out
about vegetarian food. And the best way to find out
about food is to try it!
The students worked in groups to adapt traditional
Peruvian recipes into vegetarian dishes. No lomo
saltado, but vegetable noodles saltado instead! Papa
Huacaina was a popular starter but we also had
stuffed peppers, stuffed avocado and stuffed
tomatoes.
Students also designed a restaurant name and wrote a
tempting menu for their ‘customers’. We set up the
restaurant on the tables near the kiosko and soon
had many visitors. First graders had been studying
where food comes from, animals or vegetable and so
this was a perfect opportunity for them to test
their knowledge.
Many teachers and staff visited to try the tasty
recipes and all the students were proud to show off
the cooking talents. The vegetarian recipe book will
be next!!
Second year would like to say thank you to all the
staff who helped us – from the maintenance staff who
organized tables, and Lula and Laly in the kiosko
and Senora Maria who helped us tidy up. We hope you
enjoyed the food!
