The English Language Programme
The objective
of our program in Secondary is to develop competence in English as a
dynamic means of communication. From projects and presentations to debates
and journals, classes are intended to promote purposeful and relevant
informational exchanges as well as higher critical thinking skills.
With that in
mind, we consider English a core subject and a medium of instruction for
other subjects as well, covering 30% tuition in Secondary. As our students
improve their communication skills, they
will learn to grow and excel
personally and academically.
In the
interest of expanding the cultural horizons of our educational community,
the department features a variety of events throughout the school year,
the most important one being English Week.

As part of the British
Schools of Peru, Fleming students along with students from our sister-schools
have had the opportunity to participate in joint activities, such as the
a Drama Workshop, 5th Year Challenge and a Story Telling
Competition.
Over the years,
Fleming College has gained a reputation for high English standards. Our
staff is professionally and linguistically adept and committed. In order
to ensure achievement, we have established exam level benchmarks for
both Primary and Secondary students at different stages. These
benchmarks are assessed through the international ESOL examinations
offered by the University of Cambridge as follows:
I
to II Year Preliminary English Test
III Year First
Certificate in English
IV Year Certificate
of Advanced English
V Year Certificate
of Proficiency in English
