The school manual is a continuously evolving and developing compilation of
school rules and procedures.
The
National Standard - Peruvian Law requires that any student failing the year
should repeat that year. Fleming’s internal regulations prohibit students
from repeating two years in their school career. Those who fail the year for
a second time are required to leave the school. The right to allow
repetition of the year is reserved by the school and will be decided in the
best interest of the students and of the school. Students who fail courses
but who have good effort grades will be more likely to be allowed to repeat
the year than students who have failed and who have been lazy.
The detailed
procedures are as follows:
Lower
School
For primary
school students the law requires that a student should repeat the year if
he/she has:
·
Failed, at the end of the year, two of the three prime
subjects - English, Mathematics and Spanish
·
A global average over all subjects that is less than an 11.
The average of
effort and conduct for the year will be summed and divided by two to produce
a general mark for effort/conduct for the year. Any student obtaining less
than 3 for this general mark, will be placed on a
conditional
enrollment for the following year.
Upper
School
For secondary
school students the law requires that a student should repeat the year if
he/she:
·
Is failing two or more subjects at the end of the academic
year.
The average of
effort and conduct for the year will be summed and divided by two to produce
a general mark for effort/conduct for the year. Any student obtaining less
than 3 for this general mark, will be placed on a
conditional
enrollment for the following year.
The
Graduation System – in their final two years at Fleming students are
required to meet Fleming’s stringent academic and citizenship requirements
in order to take part in the graduation ceremony. Please see relevant
section. It is possible to pass the year at Fleming without successfully
graduating.
