40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS
June 2006
Trujillo, Peru
Dear Sir Alexander,
My name is 40 days and 40 nights and I am writing to you
because I thought you should know that our school is named
after you!
I
am a student at your name’s school so the name of the school
is Sir Alexander Fleming College, interesting, isn’t it? My
teachers told me that they decided to named the school for
you because your discoveries helped many times worldwide
medicine, you saved a lot of lives with them.
I
would like to tell you some things about me… I’m from
Arequipa, I was born there, I lived there all my childhood
until last year, and then I came to Trujillo. I liked my
life in Arequipa; I studied at San Jose school, a very big
school of Jesuit priests.
When I came to Fleming College for the first time, the first
impression I had was of a very modern school, and very good
English teaching, but the only thing I didn’t like was that
the school is too small for me, it was a really shocking
thing changing from a very big school, like San Jose to a
small one like Fleming, but I like the school. Another thing
that shocked me was the English because the level of English
at San Jose was very bad and when I came here the level was
very high for me. I think that the school is making their
best to improve their debilities and I’m fine with that.
Since 1955 the world has change a lot, more than you think:
The internet, the buildings, the companies, the countries,
etc. Now the world has an incredible technology and keeps
improving. Nowadays you can have a cinema in your house, if
you have money obviously. In your times the communications
were very slow and very expensive, weren’t they? Now the
communications are so advanced that you can call any person,
in any part of the world, at any time with the cell phones;
it’s amazing the improvement. And like these there are many
things that have changed like airplanes, now we have
supersonic planes, a plane that has two levels, it’s
amazing.
You also have missed many important events like the world
cups of soccer, or the arrival of man on the moon, the
falling of the Berlin wall, etc.
I
have to leave but I would like to continue writing to you,
well bye and good luck!
