One day in
the grass there was a little locust looking for food when he
collided with a dung-heap, near there it was a butterfly,
which come to see the locust and laughed at him because he
fell at her trick.
That butterfly also told the locust that he was the ugliest
insect she ever had seen in her life.
The locust was so sad that he decided to do a journey, he
was walking and walking until he got at the border were the
keeper stopped him and told him that if he has no permission
he cant pass the border because he’s not mature enough.
The little locust tell his story and the keeper laughs, but
when the locust began to cry he thought that he was being
bad with the little locust, so he let him pass, the locust
was so happy that it gave him a gift, an amulet to protect
him from curses.
The locust visited all the places and in one of them he
found the butterfly, but now she was old and ugly. The only
thing that the locust did, was to say hello to the
butterfly, who recognized him and began to cry because now
he (the locust) was cute and she ugly.
Moral: Don’t laugh at the defects of other people because
they can become your own defects.

Teacher’s
Comment:
A
little masterpiece from a 1st year student. It has much
resemblance with Aesop’s fables and traditional children
tales. It questions our quest for beauty in a way that
is
both
funny and thoughtful.
